Lindsey is a 2007 graduate of La Porte High School, a 2011 graduate of Purdue University North Central, and a 2014 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University. She has a Bachelor’s in English, and is currently an English teacher at La Porte High School. Lindsey has loved singing since before she could talk. She has been involved in plays and musicals for as long as she can remember, both through school and the La Porte Little Theatre. Her favorite performances were as Ruth in Pirates of Penzance, The Ghost of Christmas Past in Scrooge and Marley: A Christmas Carol, as well as celebrating Indiana’s 200th birthday in the company of many talented singers and musicians, in Hoosiers in Music, at the La Porte Little Theatre. Lindsey has auditioned for talent competitions such as American Idol, America’s Got Talent, The Voice, and also local competitions including Michiana’s Rising Star and Hoosier STAR. Lindsey owes everything in her life to her best friend and biggest fan – her mom, Linda. She would like to thank her for all that she has done and for endlessly supporting all of her crazy ambitions. Lindsey is very excited to share the stage with the amazing talent of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra and the other Hoosier Star finalists.
Aaron Garrett is a Professional School Counselor for Michigan City High School and serves on the board of directors for the Michigan City Port Authority, Young People’s Theatre Company and the Michigan City Scholarship Foundation. You might remember Aaron from his 2nd place performance of Cry Me a River
in Hoosier STAR 2013. Aaron has sung with Illumination countless times, and also with the LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he has been in many musicals including community, high school and college theatre. Aaron has spent his entire adult life educating the youth and will continue to do it until he has left this Earth. He would like to thank first and foremost God, as well as his mother, his beautiful girlfriend Kristen, his family and friends, his best friend Brandon Williams and everyone who has ever been a part of his life. Also, he thanks all those who support education and the fine arts!

Michael Green, a native of LaPorte, Indiana, has been singing in a variety of venues from the age of 12. Active in choral music through his graduation from Valparaiso University in 2004, he is also an experienced soloist in productions of Pirates of Penzance, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Bye Bye Birdie
, and Cradle Will Rock
. After graduating with a BA in Theatre Arts, he moved to Chicago, where he became involved in the independent film industry. By 2006, Michael and his writing partner, Aaron Stahlecker, had moved back to LaPorte to begin filming their own full length feature film entitled Providence
, which featured 8 original songs written and recorded by the duo. Michael has also actively performed as a front-man for several rock bands. Most recently, he sang in the LaPorte July 4th parade and at Hannah Fest (both in 2014), with the classic rock cover band, Black Water Levee. He would like to thank his family and friends for supporting all of his artistic endeavors over the years.
James Neary is a singer-songwriter from the Chicagoland area. His blues-inspired vocals and soaring falsetto serve as perfect complements to his close-to-the-chest songwriting. Since releasing his first full-length album, 2013, James has gone on to open for the likes of Katie Todd, Andrew Salgado, and Matt Schofield, and has even performed on-stage alongside Muse. His is a passionate, electrifying performance that you won’t want to miss.

S. Diane Perigo is a proud—born and raised—resident of Lowell, Indiana. She is employed as the Office Manager at Tarangini Padhya, M.D., P.C., as well as a voice and piano instructor at Music of Oz Studios in Crown Point. Diane and Gary, her husband of 17 years, have been blessed with three children: Larry (14), Katherine (9), and Elizabeth (9). Her family is at the core of Diane’s heart and motivation. She is devoted to her life as a mom, watching her children excel at their favorite activities. In addition to her lifelong love of music, Diane enjoys spending time outdoors, playing volleyball, and getting her hands dirty working on household projects.
Music has played a major role in Diane’s world throughout her life, and not much time passes between occasions to sing. She studied voice with Rebecca Osborn of Music of Oz Studios, and Joe Evan Burt of Northwestern University. In addition to several community theatre productions, Diane has performed with The United States Collegiate Choir, The Lafayette Bach Chorale, The Northwest Indiana Symphony Chorus, and The Kankakee Valley Community Chorus. She is currently a member of Illumination, and regularly performs with The LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra. Diane has enjoyed providing backup vocals for many years of Hoosier Star Competitions, and is elated for the opportunity to step forward this season as a finalist.
As a lifelong La Porte resident, Nick Bello started his musical journey at the age of six when he played the lead role of Oliver at the La Porte Little Theatre Club. Through school, Nick was the lead in several musical theatre performances and was a part of the La Porte High School choirs, including show choir. While in school, Nick received numerous music awards including the Eddie Burke award as a Junior and the National Chorale Award as a Senior. He was selected to sing with the Indiana All-State Choir and was inducted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society. While attending Indiana University, Nick became the president of the All-Campus Chorus and continued his singing with an acapella group as well as a band. He also helped lead his fraternity to a second place finish at IU Sing. Nick is a third generation vocalist and his father John Bello was a Hoosier Star finalist in 2008.
Nick is married to his beautiful wife Corinda and together they have 3 daughters. He currently sings at Journey Church where he helps lead the worship team. Outside of his love for music, Nick enjoys golfing and spending time with his family. He is the founder of Support La Porte and Support Michigan City which helps bring awareness to locally owned and operated businesses in the La Porte County area.
Laura is so incredibly excited to be a part of the Hoosier Star Competition! She is from Hebron, Indiana and is very newly wed to her amazing husband, Bill. She has been involved with several community theaters in the area, including Memorial Opera House, 4th Street, Chicago Street, and L’arc en Ciel Theater Group. Some favorite roles include the NIETF award winning Jane Eyre (Best Actress in a Musical, Best Musical) , NIETF Nominated Sonia in Crime and Punishment (Best Featured Actress) , Mrs. Walker in The Who’s Tommy, and the upcoming Into The Woods at 4th Street Theater.
She has vocal directed several shows in the area (Wizard of Oz at the Memorial Opera House most recently), and teaches private voice and piano lessons. She has also performed several times before with this beautiful orchestra, as a part of the Choir Illumination and was honored to be a featured soloist for the Holiday Pops Concert of 2013. She is a Marketing Associate at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, and is so thankful for her wonderful parents, brothers, husband, and many friends for their unending love and support.
